Nike Basketball and the Kobe Bryant Estate continues to celebrate the late NBA champion's connection to the city of Los Angeles with Dodgers-inspired product.
According to Sole Retriever, the popular Nike Kobe 5 Protro basketball shoe will take on a "Game Royal/University Red/White" makeover in the same fashion as a special Kobe 6 Protro launched in October 2025. Both offerings commemorate Bryant's relationship with the LA Dodgers, a team he supported throughout his career living in Southern California. An early speculative mock-up of the next Protro drawing inspiration from the MLB franchise depicts the pair as having a mostly bold blue finish across the upper. A baseball-informed red stitch line is expected to run around the top-of-the-tongue and down the hind-foot, while traction should keep things simple in "White."
The insoles are believed to come together to show a photo of Bryant during his final visit to Dodgers Stadium, which took place on Oct. 27, 2018. Apparel and accessories should accompany footwear and launch during the Fall 2026 season.
Stay tuned for firm Nike.com release details and product shots of the "Dodgers" Kobe 5 Protro. More details should surface by June 2026.
