Kobe Bryant’s untimely death has left a very noticeable impact on the world — and in our world of sneakers, too. Out of respect for the future Hall of Famer and his family, Nike has pulled any and all Kobe-related products from its stores until the time feels right. That day may come long before Byrant’s posthumous induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on August 29th, as fans and sneakerheads have been screaming out for a way to honor Kobe in the best way they know how — rocking his shoes. Pairs are already piling up waiting for release. After having already been previewed and postponed in a “Lakers” and a “Big Stage/Parade” makeup. Now the Nike Kobe 5 has surfaced again in a new “Alternate Bruce Lee” colorway.
Gone is the traditional yellow and black colors of Bruce Lee’s “Game of Death” jumpsuit, and ushered in is a clean black and white in ode to Lee’s garb in the 1973 film Enter The Dragon. Blood Red outlined-Swooshed and forefoot claw marks replicate that seen on Lee’s right pectoral in the film’s most famous fight scenes, and the pair is capped off with small hits of yellow on the heel tab, rear signature embroidery, and on the underfoot geometric Mamba motif.
Update 05.26.20 Official images of the White Bruce Lee Kobe 5 have arrived, but they did not come with an attached release date. But with whispers of a June 1st release for the previously-previewed “Big Stage/Parade” Kobe 5, you can expect to see these sooner rather than later.Update 11.11.20 Nike has now confirmed the release of the Nike Kobe 5 “Alternate Bruce Lee” for November 24th, with pairs listed up right here on the SNKRS drop calendar for a 10 am ET release. And if you didn’t catch it, official images for the OG Yellow and Black Bruce Lee Kobe 5 have also arrived!
