Two greats, one iconic colorway.
There are quite a few similarities between Andre Agassi and LeBron James when you get down to it. Both were incredible cash cows for the Swoosh, because both were at the peak of their game for an extended length of time, both had stellar signature sneakers with the brand — and both held onto their hair loss for dear life. And with a signature style as impactful as Andre’s had on pop culture in the early 90s, it’s no surprise that Nike is looking back to Agassi’s iconic “Hot Lava” Air Tech Challenge II for the next installment of the #LeBronWatch series.
Sure, the 1991 Tinker Hatfield-designed sneaker was a real wild-child — something the ATP tour had never seen before, but it was Agassi’s matching acid wash denim shorts, neon Lyrca undershorts paired with his wild personality that really made the shoe an icon — it was a complete package. Now, Nike revisits the period with a classically color blocked iteration of the Nike LeBron 16. OG heads will also be pleased, with this pairings attention to detail, with the heel of the inner bootie and tongue arrive with OG material fixtures.
