Animal prints never really went away, but over the last few years, they have moved back into the center of sneaker culture in a very noticeable way.
Wales Bonner has played a major role in that shift, bringing faux animal textures and archival sportswear styling back into the spotlight through its celebrated adidas collaborations. But the lane itself has much deeper roots. From Atmos’ long-running love of animal print storytelling to Tinker Hatfield’s early willingness to bring safari-inspired patterns into Nike’s performance world, the language has been part of sneaker design for decades.
Now Nike is taking that idea somewhere a little faster with the Nike Pegasus Premium “Cow Print.”
Currently expected to release in August 2026, the pair brings a faux cow print finish to one of Nike Running’s most premium modern silhouettes. Rather than simply placing the print across the shoe in a static way, Nike gives it a subtle motion-blur effect across the side panels and midsole wrap, almost as if the pattern is moving at speed. It is a clever detail that ties the lifestyle-heavy look back to the Pegasus Premium’s performance DNA.
The upper starts with a breathable cream mesh base, framed by soft beige overlays that give the shoe a natural, layered look. Black appears across the tongue, collar, laces, outsole, and toe guard, while the cow print takes over the lower side panels, heel, and midsole casing. A shaggy off-white Swoosh adds another textural layer, sitting over the blurred animal print in a way that feels more fashion-led than traditional running release.

Underfoot, the Pegasus Premium keeps its full-length visible Air Zoom unit, here tinted in a deep red tone that cuts through the neutral upper. That red hit gives the pair a sharper edge, balancing the cream, black, and beige palette with just enough contrast.
With Wales Bonner helping push animal-inspired footwear back into wider conversation, and Nike’s own history full of safari, leopard, and pony-hair moments, the Pegasus Premium “Cow Print” feels like a natural continuation of a much bigger story.
The Nike Pegasus Premium “Cow Print” is currently expected to release in August 2026. Stay tuned for more details as the release approaches.
