Nike Sportswear consistently has one of the busiest years in sneakers, but 2025 has been particularly involved for the fashion-focused branch as the year marks several milestone anniversaries. The Shox R4, for example, celebrates its 25th birthday. To honor the occasion, the Swoosh has reimagined the retro performance product in a number of refreshing styles—including a 'Regal Pink/Black' option donning sakura embroidery.
The Japanese word translates to "tree" or "its flowers" and most often references the country's national flower, the cherry blossom. Recent history has seen sakura's popularity explode out West, with folks looking to add anything with the pink flower to their lives. The Swoosh conglomerate has noticed this, delivering a number of footwear projects either inspired by or featuring images of the springtime bloom.
The Wale-approved Air Foamposite One 'DMV' is one such design referencing the cherry blossom trees found throughout Washington D.C. (a gift from Japan). Even the Air Jordan line has developed retros with direct nods to sakura. The imminent Shox R4, however, might have both pairs beat.

Clad in a 'Regal Pink/Black' gradient, the Nike Shox offering features embroidered cherry blossom images at the forefoot. Presented as if the flowers are flowing in the wind, pink petals appear near the lateral swoosh, which has also been stitched onto the sidewalls. Rosy-colored perforations along the tongue and ankle opening further contribute to the playful theme, but the piston-shaped Shox technology at the heel up the ante. Each individual column deviates from their pitch-'Black' surroundings in an all-over print of Japan's beloved flower. A similar graphic treatment appears on the shoe box, marking the pair's special makeup.
