The Nike Shox Ride 2 is back in the spotlight, but will its mainline retro find footing with modern consumers? That’s the question Nike seems poised to answer as they reintroduce the model following its 2023 resurgence via Supreme. With only two prior colorways announced, the new “Metallic Platinum” marks the first bold departure, showcasing a more experimental and expressive design approach.
This iteration retains the silhouette’s signature structure but trades clean overlays for a distressed, pre-worn aesthetic. Scuffed black detailing radiates across the midline of the shoe, gradually fading into white-dominant sections at the heel and forefoot. The scuffed look gives the Shox Ride 2 a unique, lived-in character that sets it apart from its predecessors.
Adding to the playful yet retro vibe is the underfoot design, which pairs chrome splotches with a vibrant pink outsole. This striking combination nods to the Y2K aesthetic that initially defined the Shox Ride 2, while embracing Nike’s increasing willingness to push boundaries with its retro models.
The Nike Shox Ride 2 “Metallic Platinum” will hit store shelves in the coming weeks, retailing for $190.
