Nike Football is having a prolonged moment. In addition to its TOMA series of competitions bringing community and raw football talent together across a handful of cities, the Swoosh's presence within "the beautiful game" continues to live on through new product. Federations like France, U.S., and England have suited up in 2026 World Cup™ kits during the most-recent international break, giving fans a chance to see the designs in action. More recently, the beloved Total 90 III indoor shoe has appeared in yet another compelling style.
A relic of the mid-2000s, a time period many football fans remember with nostalgia, the thin-soled, performance-first silhouette has since become a cult classic amongst fashionable folks on the hunt for a retro aesthetic. The T90 sneaker's revival has brought back some colorways from its original run, but most of its catalog has been made up of all-new color executions and material explorations.
For its latest ensemble, the Total 90 III receives a premium makeover, pairing "Black" and "University Red" across a leather upper. The color description isn't entirely new territory for the classic Nike Football design, but its application does differ from most other T90 releases; a textured leather build recreates a dry paint finish, a style the Swoosh has explored on other sneakers throughout the years. Does this mean the paint will chip away with wear, revealing a full-red base? It's possible, but it's also possible the choice is only a cosmetic decision.
Expect the "Black/University Red" indoor shoes to release via Nike.com by May. While you wait, enjoy official photos of the pair ahead.
