Nike Football's heritage continues to claim bits of the footwear zeitgeist despite advancements in design and technology for the sport. Case in point?: The beloved Total 90 III indoor shoe from the early 2000s.
Over the last seven months, the Swoosh conglomerate has revived and reissued at least a dozen different takes on the silhouette once endorsed by the likes of Luis Figo. Revisited in part to respond to the unshakeable footballcore trend, the silhouette has won over fans and non-fans of "the beautiful game" alike. A healthy mix of original and new color schemes have landed on the design, with the latest look seemingly drawing inspiration from FC Barcelona.
While not a perfect match, the "Hyper Royal/Team Red/Lightening"-colored Total 90 III wouldn't look out-of-place when worn with the 25/26 Barcelona Home jersey. Much of the shoe's lateral side opts for a glossy blue, while the 90-branded medial profile indulges in a deep red tone. The circular logo introduces a vibrant yellow into the mix, which evokes images of Ronaldinho during his time with La Blaugrana from 2003 to 2008. Over the years, Nike has employed a similar color palette and blocking on some of its popular footwear styles.
