Nike Rebrands Its Beaverton Campus to Honor Phil Knight

For the first time in its 35-year history, Nike’s World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, has a new name. The company has officially renamed its 400-acre campus the Philip H. Knight Campus in honor of its co-founder and Chairman Emeritus, marking a symbolic moment for the brand and its employees around the globe.

The announcement came directly from Nike President and CEO Elliott Hill in an all-staff email commemorating his one-year anniversary in the role. Hill described the renaming as both a tribute and a reminder — one that embodies the same pioneering spirit that has defined Nike since its earliest days.

“This is more than a name change,” said Hill. “It’s a tribute to the man whose vision created a global movement. And it’s a reminder — to every one of us who will walk these paths and run these fields — of what can happen when belief meets action.”

For decades, the Beaverton campus has served as the epicenter of Nike’s creative and athletic culture. Designed under Knight’s influence, the headquarters drew inspiration from collegiate architecture and open, collaborative spaces. The original campus, dedicated in October 1990, brought together Nike employees who had previously been spread across Portland. It featured six buildings named after some of the brand’s most celebrated athletes — including Michael Jordan, Steve Prefontaine, and Joan Benoit Samuelson.

As Nike grew throughout the 1990s, the campus expanded to include buildings honoring Ken Griffey Jr., Mia Hamm, Jerry Rice, and Pete Sampras. More recently, the LeBron James Innovation Center and the Serena Williams Building have added over a million square feet of new creative and research space, cementing the campus as one of the most advanced centers for sports design and innovation in the world.

Now rebranded as the Philip H. Knight Campus, the site reflects Knight’s lasting impact — both as a founder and as a believer in what’s possible. The name change is effective immediately, with updated signage and branding expected to roll out over the next year. Nike will formally celebrate the dedication with a special event in Spring 2026, honoring Knight’s contributions to sport, culture, and the company’s continued evolution.
