Patta to Revisit Nike Air Max 1 '87 During Summer 2026

Patta and Nike are no strangers to one another. Recent history has seen both parties explore a number of silhouettes and initiatives, but revolutionary Air Max technology continues to be a mainstay of the partnership. The Amsterdam-based institution is rumored to be working on an Air Max 1 '87 collaboration ahead of Summer 2026.

Reported by Instagram user @bubblekoppe, the news arrives shortly after Edson Sabajo previewed a Patta Air Max Dn8 project. Official word from either party involved regarding either collaboration's launch has yet to surface, but Nike's recent push of and Patta's history with visible Air tech make the sneakers a sensible linkup for the brands.

What's important to point out is that early reports posit that the next Air Max 1 by Sabajo and Guillaume "Gee" Schmidt will be on the model's '87 edition instead of the Big Bubble version. Although the latter more closely resembles Tinker Hatfield's original design, and kick-started the Big Bubble revival that's currently focused on the Air Max 95, it hasn't been as widely lauded by longtime collectors of the AM1—including Patta's "Chlorophyll" pair from 2009, and the more recent "Waves" iteration. The Patta frontmen, then, might want to revert to a non-Big Bubble build given this version's expansive catalog of highly coveted, influential takes between the late 1990s and early 2010s.
