Sotheby’s “The Entourage Collection” is Loaded With Rare Nike Air

Sotheby’s ‘The Entourage Collection’ Auction Celebrates All Things ‘Entourage’ x Nike

As the premier brokerage house for fine arts, collectibles, and jewelry, it was inevitable that Sotheby’s would pillage its way to the top of ultra-rare sneaker sales. Just this year alone, the three-century-old auction house has facilitated the sale of one-off sneakers like the Nike Air Yeezy ‘Glow’ sample worn by Kanye West at the 2008 Grammys (for $1.8 million, mind you) and more recently auctioned off the earliest known pair of game-worn Nike’s from Michael Jordan. Now, in their hunt for more rare Air, the auction house has honed in on one of the most widely-loved sitcoms — and one of the most prolific in the sneaker scene —in Entourage for its next scarce set of sneakers.

“The Entourage Collection” of auctions consists entirely of shoes highlighted in the iconic HBO series, a show which ran from 2004 to 2011 and was one of the first mainstream media features to truly highlight sneaker culture. There is a handful of Dunks and Air Force 1s, some lesser-loved Hyperdunks and CP3s, but the collection is undoubtedly championed by a $100K pair of the UNDEFEATED x Nike Air Force 1 ‘Fukijama Gold’ PEs

The ‘Fukijama Gold’ is the stuff of Entourage legend and sneaker lore. It appears in ‘What About Bob?’, the

The legendary pair was first brought to the attention of sneakerheads on the 11th episode of the show’s third season, in which protagonist Vincent Chase’s childhood friend-turned-driver Turtle isn’t able to secure a rare pair of Air Force 1s created by a fictional artist named Fukijama (an ostensible not to Fujiwara Hiroshi). Turtle, who agonizingly missed out on a pair of the collaborative ‘Premium Georges’ Forces after camping out at UNDEFEATED’s Santa Monica location, was later surprised by Vince who sent him to pick up a 1-of-1 gold pair from Fukijama himself.

The episode aired in 2006, but it wouldn’t see hyperstrike release until 2009 — and like Turtle in the show, we were all left heartbroken on the drop. It was hand-lasered by Mark Smith, former creative director of Jordan Brand and Senior Creative Director of Innovation at Nike, which in itself adds even more value to an already storied pair. Now they’re set to go under the hammer for an estimated $60-$100k, a confident price range backed up by a pair that sold for $88,200 back in March of 2021.

You’ll also see the UNDEFEATED x Nike Air Force 1 ‘Premium Georges’ — the pair Turtle was actually lining up for — up for grabs, as well as a duo of dunks, one coming with a boxed signed by the show’s stars in Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara, and Kevin Dillon. Turtle’s Hyperdunks are estimated to sell for ont-to-two grand, whilst the Jordan CP3 VIII.AE is tipped to be the lot’s lightest on the wallet at an estimated $500-$1000.
