For the past few years, LeBron James’ connection with his Filipino fanbase has been marked with special sneaker releases in collaboration with Manila’s biggest name ion sneakers, Titan. Dubbed “Agimat” — a Filipino word for “amulet” or “charm” — the series has typically arrived in navy-and-gold-based colorways. First, it was the LeBron 14 in 2017, the Soldier 12 in 2018, then last year’s LeBron 16 Low — but 2020 has something different in store. And thanks to James’ right-hand man Frankie Walker, we have our first look at 2020’s effort.
The “Agimat” Nike LeBron 17 Low Titan switches things up with a royal red upper featuring a completely embossed toe-to-heel panel with symbols and logos tied to the Philippines, such as the returning shield and bolt. The shield is symbolic of the Bagobo tribe’s traditional armor, while the lightning bolt represents power. Contrasting hits of metallic gold appear on the tongue, lateral Swoosh, and heel branding. And, if you look closely, you’ll see a slightly specked midsole piece to complete the design.
As of now, a release date hasn’t been announced for the “Agimat” LeBron 17 Low Titan, but expect it to release in the Philippines first up, followed by a global drop shortly after. Keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for further updates.
