UNDEFEATED Returns to '99 With Nike Air Tuned Max Collab
Not even two full months have gone by in 2026 and handfuls of sneaker releases for 2027 have already begun popping up. The latest rumor posits that UNDEFEATED will reimagine the Nike Air Tuned Max.
Propagated across social media by enthusiast of all-things-Air, Instagram user @BubbleKoppe, the news arrives days before the Swoosh's fictional, but ever-important Air Max Month (March) kicks off. Additionally, the rumored project follows a city-commemorating Air Max 95 capsule by UNDEFEATED, which helped close out the silhouette's blockbuster 30th anniversary.
The Air Tuned Max, however, is a much more obscure design from 1999, although it was born out of the same Alpha Project cohort that produced the Zoom Hyperflight, a basketball sneaker that's enjoying a retro run in '26.

If BubbleKoppe's news actualizes, it'll mark only the third time Nike has put together retro efforts for the innovative runner from '99. London's Skepta brought some much-needed attention to the silhouette's original "Celery" color scheme by way of a hybrid collaboration in 2017. Years later, the cult-favorite dropped in as close-to-OG-form as possible. Following the first-time reissue in 2021, the Air Tuned Max remained part of the Nike Sportswear lineup for some time before retreating into the archive.
UNDEFEATED, however, could change that during the model's 28th anniversary.
Stay tuned for firm Nike.com release details and detailed product shots of the rumored project. If history is indicative of anything, the Tuned Air-donning design could feature some of the streetwear label's go-to motifs and color schemes. More than one pair should also be expected.
