Revisiting Every Nike USMNT Home Jersey Since '95 Ahead of the 2026 World Cup™

The U.S. men's national soccer team (USMNT) entered an exclusive kit manufacturing deal with NIKE, Inc. after the 1994 World Cup™. Since then, the Oregon-based sportswear company has designed over 15 different Home jerseys for "The Stars & Stripes."

On Monday, March 16, the Swoosh unveiled USMNT's Home and Away kits for the 2026 World Cup™ tournament. Although some netizens have taken to social media to voice criticism about the designs—namely the lack of waves on the back of the Home shirt and simplicity of the Away jersey—the latest on-pitch gear for Mauricio Pochettino's men has been well-received by diehard fans and neutrals alike.

"We did a lot of research...teams...went out and did...digs...[finding that U.S.] identity was stars and stripes...that was very important," shared Yazmin Rosete, Senior Designer, Global Football Apparel, when asked about the design process for USMNT's new jerseys. "The kit is not just a jersey—the kit lives on the pitch. So, I'm excited to see what legacy this one leaves."

Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi, and the rest of Pochettino's squad have a lot of expectations on them given their individual talent. The legacy they leave behind after this summer has yet to be determined, but Rosete's words got us thinking: What about the legacy of Nike's other jersey designs for USMNT? And thus, we're here.

This isn't a painstakingly-thorough design breakdown of every U.S. Home shirt since '95, but rather a simple chronicle of the decades-old partnership between two domestic institutions. (One-off and centennial designs have been excluded.)
