With the popularity of the Nike Dunk surging, it’s expected that the number of SB collaborations would naturally grow with it. On what has become a weekly occurrence, a new Nike SB Dunk collab has surfaced, this time tapping Japan graphic designer-turned streetwear mainstay Verdy and his Wasted Youth imprint.
Taking to the SB Dunk Low, Wasted Youth has taken what appears to be denim textile uppers and applied an abundance of intricate touches. It’s a surprising release considering the label’s focus on print, which here opts for tonal layering, material mixes, and patches — all of which shift dramatically from the silhouette’s standard lines. In almost punk stylings, the pair is capped with rose-riddled medial panels, tack-on stitching in the rear, and Prince Albert-like hardware in the rear. Its palate is punk, too, arriving in predominately black with denim and leather the textile choice for a two-step throwdown.
