Even though Kobe has been out of the NBA for a full season, his sneakers have never been more popular. The Mamba Mentality lives on, and so do his ever-extending range of sneakers from Nike Basketball.
The five-time NBA champion has a strange fascination with the external factors that influence human behavior, and one key area for Kobe is the psychology of color — understanding the correlations between color, attitude and emotions. So why not turn that into more sneakers, says Nike?
Well here they are. Another beautifully executed marketing campaign, Nike introduce the he all-new, mid-top Nike Kobe A.D.
In true Kobe (and Nike) style, each makeup is informed by psychological sciences, viewed through the eyes of the Mamba. And it’s not all about the story behind the colorways – it’s about performance too. Each shoe features a multilayer upper that provides a lightweight, ultra-thin feel that’s strong and supportive. A Lunarlon foam combines with Zoom Air for soft yet responsive, cushioning. Completed with an Engineered tread to provide optimal traction for cutting and moving swiftly.
The new mid A.D. will drop in 5 colorways, Grey, Blue, Purple, Red, and Yellow. The Grey represents calm neutrality. Blue relays dependability and trust. Bryant equates those traits with honesty. Yellow and positivity go hand in hand, or as some say, “amongst the clouds there is always the sun.” Red is acknowledged as a symbol of passion, and Purple represents overcoming challenges and setting fresh goals.
Watch the video below to hear Kobe speak about each trait in this beautifully put together piece of video.
If you’re keen on on or all of these colorways, you can pickup your pair(s) of the Nike Kobe A.D. Mid on August 24th for $150.
