Originally designed for the fateful 1972 Olympics in Munich, the adidas SL 72 was introduced as a lightweight running sneaker and was the first release of the SL (Super Light) family. It was so successful on the track, that it was followed up by the SL 76 and SL 80 years later. Around the same time, sneakers had started to work their way into everyday wear, and it didn’t take long for the casual crowd to adopt the trainer. Now it returns for the tail end of Summer 2020 with a reimagined offering in a striking modern palette of Solar Red, Chalk White, and Black.
The former makes up the mesh upper and pressed leather tongue, with overlays in suede donning an off-white finish. Stunning black accents at the midfoot Three Stripes, laces, and rear branding providing some much-needed visual breaks, before crisp whites are ushered in at the midsole, heel overlay, and liners to complete the design.
