The Adidas Forum Low might've been born as a performance-basketball sneaker, but it's become a cultural icon in the streets since its debut in the 1980s. High-profile collaborations and exclusive launches have helped the silhouette gain a stronghold amongst the most enthusiastic sneaker collectors, but the shoe has also become popular amongst kids.
While no longer the pinnacle of Adidas Basketball (that distinction goes to Anthony Edwards' AE1 and the Harden Vol. 9, for example), the Forum continues to deliver performance-informed benefits to modern audiences. The lockdown strap across the top of the tongue and radial traction underfoot harken back to the Three Stripes' basketball heritage. A newly-surfaced pair for Kids omits the aforementioned strap in favor of a cleaner, traditional lacing system, but its outfit is anything but classic.
Inspired by the virtual world, the pair features 8-Bit style graphics all throughout the leather upper. A 'Bliss Pink' color animates the bulk of the Kids' shoe, with hits of vibrant 'Yellow' at the tongue and inner lining adding to the playful makeover. Adidas' iconic Trefoil logo on the lateral side also opts for an 8-Bit finish, resembling styles like the Minecraft Superstar inspired by the game's Creeper. Underfoot, the old school sole unit keeps things simple.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead. The Kids' Forum Low is likely to hit Adidas.com by June with a price tag of $80. Expect other '8-Bit' styles to emerge by then.
