J. Crew x New Balance 992 “New York” Releases October 8th

With PaperBoy, Nice Kicks, YCMC, and DTLR recently delivering inspired efforts on the 992, New Balance now looks another long-time partner to put their spin on the silhouette, with New York’s own J. Crew creating a pair that honors its home city.

Seemingly blurring the line between Knicks fandom and Timberlan flax, the pair presents an upper and overlays of muted blue mesh and pigskin, with branding circling Madison Square Garden’s most famous residents in orange and white. Boot-inspired laces and heel clips follow suit, before a possible hint at the city’s towering concrete creations seen on the cement-colored eyestay overlays. Mudguards, toe clips, and heel overlays arrive in wheat finish seen on workboots aplenty — with gum outsoles mimicking this, too — to complete the design.
