Joe Freshgoods Presents New Balance 2010 "Hand-Me-Downs" & "Bag Lady" Collabs

Chicago's Joe Freshgoods continues to leave his mark on the expansive New Balance sneaker catalog. In addition to assisting on a green-accented NB 992, the beloved designer has reimagined the NB ABZORB 2010 into two story-driven makeovers: "Hand-Me-Downs" and "Bag Lady."

While different from a cheetah print-covered style teased through unofficial channels earlier in the year, the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 2010 project plays around with textures, patterns, and material execution. Both styles of the heritage-inspired silhouette—which JFG has dubbed "functional house-shoe runners" and "Anti feet hurters"—don a medley of fall-friendly tones complemented by thick furry laces and fuzzy, semi-distressed overlays.

The unpolished aesthetic across the NB 2010 duo is intentional. Whereas the "Aged Well" NB 992 was presented and executed as a final studio album, the newly-surfaced pairs are a "mixtape DVD," in the designer's own words. Ornate JFG logos appear on the project's insoles, working in-tandem with included JFG charm bracelets that hang on the lateral sides. Underfoot, the ABZORB SBS-cushioned sole unit introduces some color variation into the mix.

As with every collaboration between New Balance and Joseph Robinson, the 2010 project surely has some thoughtful backstory to it. Impending visuals should flesh out the story.

Firm NewBalance.com release details haven’t been disclosed by either party involved, but that’s expected to change soon.
