New Balance recently hosted the second annual Beantown Elite Experience at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston, bringing together a group of top-ranked male and female high school basketball players for four days of on- and off-court programming.
The week opened with Kawhi Leonard, who welcomed attendees and gifted players his latest signature sneaker, the KAWHI V. The following morning brought another major moment as Tyrese Maxey officially unveiled the New Balance Maxey v1, surprising each high school athlete in attendance with a pair of his first signature shoe.
Basketball remained at the center of the experience, with Maxey, Zach LaVine, Darius Garland, Dejounte Murray, Chris Livingston, Nick Smith Jr., Sienna Betts, Jordan Smith Jr. and Aaliyah Crump among the New Balance athletes providing campers with instruction and perspective throughout the week.
The program also extended well beyond the court. Players took part in sessions covering financial literacy, personal branding, NIL opportunities and professional exposure, while each athlete was invited to bring a parent, coach or mentor. Those guests received their own programming centered around helping young players navigate the business of basketball, adversity, injuries and life beyond the game.
The week concluded with Micah Gordon and Jessie Moses receiving the Terrence Clarke Award on the men’s and women’s sides, respectively. The honor recognizes players who display leadership and character both on and off the court.
Now in its second year, the Beantown Elite Experience gives New Balance another platform to connect its growing basketball roster with some of the game’s top young prospects while providing resources for both the athletes and the people supporting them.
