Kawhi set to debut the first sneaker on Sunday
Kawhi Leonard and New Blanace are such a perfect fit it’s scary. Both have been putting out quality, elite level product for years. Both tend to shy away from the flashiness and hype and sit away from the spotlight — and both have had a long absence from basketball. The latter is about to change for the Boston-based brand, with NB yesterday unveiling their return to the NBA hardwood at the All-Star Weekend in Charlotte.
Their basketball silhouette is still kept under wraps, but in the promotional shoot, Kawhi was donning New Balance 990v5s on foot. The advert (below) is actually one of the best we’ve seen in a while, and in typical Leonard form, not one word was spoken.
Update 02.15.19 New Balance have leaked a handful of images, previewing 5 silhouettes of the all-new New Balance OMN1S, Kawhis first signature sneaker.
Featuring the Detroit Camo, Trust Leonard, Black Ice, Best Kept Secret, DNA and Project 515, each tells a story that will help define Leonard’s partnership with New Balance. On February 17, All-Star Sunday, that story will begin as Leonard will choose one pair to lace up making it his on-court debut with New Balance.
