This sneaker has always been a cult favorite since its inception 30 years ago, and after some significant time out of the limelight, fans have been delighted by the return of the Nike Trainer SC High for its 30th anniversary in 2020. Though releases of the silhouette this year have been meager, to say the least, there is some good news: there’s another colorway on the way — although it might divide the old heads from the new.
Besides the pair’s white perforated leather uppers, there’s not much else on this Nike Trainer SC High “Abalone” that would likely appeal to the old heads, as it’s fresh, light mint accents and abalone shell-like Swoosh and tongue tag sets are a likely attraction to a different generation of sneaker enthusiast. Ballistic mesh tongues provide the pair with a central anchor, with the aforementioned mint hue taking over the eyelets, strap detail, and the majority of the sole. Completing the design is a set of white laces, and further hits of white around the midsole and underfoot NIKE branding.
Update 11.24.20 A second pair has appeared in the same aqua and white aesthetic, with the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Abalone” appearing online early this morning. Pairs are expected to release alongside the Trainer SC High, though a release date for both is yet to be issued.
