Update // If you’ve found yourself on this article and are a little confused, we’re here to clear this up. The Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” will not be released in 2020, though it has now just been confirmed for Holiday 2021. You can read the full recap here.
OG Posts // Jordan athlete Jayson Tatum may have just confirmed one of the biggest releases of the year, the Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey”.
Often confused to be an original colorway, it didn’t actually arrive until 2001, where Mike wore them during his days as a Wizard. It’s nubuck and patent leather construction in soothing grey hues was an instant classic. It returned again in 2010 — the last time it saw a retail release. It continually pops up in discussions around the community, with people crying out for a retro for what seems like forever. Now a decade since its last release, it appears that it will be returning, although it won’t be a true-to-original release.
Tatum took to Snapchat to flex his latest gift from the brand, unboxing a freshly-baked pair of Gool Grey 11s, differing in construction by-way-of mesh and high-cut patent leather. A sample version with the mesh upper did surface in 2010, although it never did release. A release for the pair is not yet confirmed, but should they drop, they will likely form part of this year’s annual Holiday collection.
Take in a first look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter accountfor any further updates.
Update 06.17.20 Complex Sneakers has confirmed with Jordan Brand that a release of the “Cool Grey” Air Jordan 11 isn’t in the pipeline for Jordan Brand.“We don’t have plans to release them at this time,” said a spokesperson via email.
