40 years is a long time to remain the center of attention, but the Air Force 1 has never shied away from the spotlight; in fact, one would say that the silhouette is lapping it up this year, with its 40th-anniversary celebrations discussed on a daily basis. Most of that sprouts from the continual run of celebratory releases, like this new Air Force 1 Low which continues a themed series of specialist releases.
Uppers of tumbled creamy leathers provide the pair’s anchor, with smooth leather Swooshes and eyestays joining tonal nylon tongues and laces to form the base. From there, a slew of blood-red accents flood the pair, including the liners, tongue branding, forefoot mini Swoosh, and sole units; the latter is fixed with creamy midsole branding and underfoot pivot points. The 40th-anniversary celebration comes into play again at the lateral ankle via barely-there debossing, with metallic gold dubraes and upper eyelets adding a touch of extra importance. Lastly, the pair is completed by retro Nike Air heel branding that’s in line with Bruce Kilgore’s original text specs.
While an official release date for this celebratory Nike Air Force 1 Low has yet to be revealed, the surfacing of product imagery would suggest that a release is on the way.
