The whole world has its eyes on South Korea right now, with the global success of the Netflix series “Squid Game” taking the world by storm. The friendly nation has also been a strong focal point for footwear, with everything from special-edition Dunks to G-Dragon’s upcoming Nike collaboration keeping Koreans happy. Now, Nike looks to celebrate their annual Hangeul Day with a two-piece Air Force 1 pack that honors their centuries-old alphabet.
On October 9th each and every year, South Koreans celebrate the invention of the Korean alphabet which was created in the year 1443. A beautiful language it is, it only deserves something equally elegant — and the Swoosh has done that in both men’s and women’s releases. Here, the men’s pair arrives in bold black, consisting of a graphic upper made of Korean consonants and vowels, all of which read key Nike sayings such as “Nike” and “Just Do It”. The nation’s colorful hues are rampant throughout the upper, tongue tags, and heels, and are joined by striking yellows to add to the festive mood — it’s even present at the Swoosh and midsole stitch work that shifts from hue to hue.
Grab a look at the men’s edition of the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Hangeul Day” here below, and if you’re local to Korea, then you can expect a release to land on the day in question — October 9th — here at Nike Koreafrom 10 am local.
Those of you elsewhere around the globe will have to hit the aftermarket sites below to secure your pair.
