Nike Air Force 1 Low “NY vs NY” Celebrates New York’s Summer Streetball Leagues
Regretfully, Summer streetball season has been canceled across the Northern Hemisphere and, much like the Olympic Games — but to a lesser extent — Nike has been left with a slew of celebratory footwear options that honor the events. Plans set in place before COVID-19 wreaked havoc had the brand once again focused on the New York streetball scene, with a special-edition “NY vs NY” Air Force 1 Low honoring the city which birthed the hardwood-turned streetwear staple.
The simple white-based option arrives in classic Uptown construction, this time pairs with a few black embellishments and customizable traits. Tumbled black leather Swooshes come splayed across the profile panels and work in conjunction with jet black outsoles, midsole detail and rear brand embroidery to provide the pair with some striking contrast. Nike’s trademarks “NY vs NY” motif sits upon the lateral quarter panel, and is also engraved on the special-edition dubraes. Customization comes by-way-of removable Velcro tongue patches that feature the tournaments of Gersh Park, Tri-State, Lincoln Park, Watson Park, the Uptown Challenge, West 4th, and Dykman for you to change between weekends — of course, Rucker Park was celebrated on its own Air Force 1 earlier this month.
A release date for the Nike Air Force 1 Low “NY vs NY” did not accompany the official image set below, but despite the widespread cancelations the pair it is still expected to release over the Summer month. As always, keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
