Five years ago, Nike released their SNKRS application; a platform that promised a fair and even chance to cop red-hot releases. And whilst that mission may well sound like a whole lot of hot air, its success has it trending on Twitter every Saturday morning. For its fifth birthday bash, Nike has called up a silhouette that’s celebrating its 40th, with this Air Force 1 Low “SNKRS Day” expected to be just one of a handful of celebratory releases earmarked for the annual occasion in August.
Delivering a simple-yet-intriguing colorway for the occasion, Nike has called up woven sail uppers, with each and every panel prepared in a different way. Tonal leather eyestays and rear overlays lock in the textile upper before tumbled leather Checks of chocolate brown are laid atop. Underfoot is much of the same, with sail and brown sole units residing. The pair is then complete by special “V” insignia on the wooden dubraes and insoles, as well as unique packaging and specialized SNKRS Day hangtags.
