First Looks // Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Tear-Away”

As the lesser-loved of the three cuts, Nike’s Air Force 1 Mid is often an afterthought amongst even the most hardcore sneakerheads. But as has been apparent, the brand has arguably put more focus on the model than the High this year, with everything from city-specific colorways to a special-edition release that documents the model’s 40-year timeline. Now it incorporates a bit of DIY destruction with this all-new Air Force 1 Mid “Tear-Away” joining a previously-previewed “White Canvas”colorway of the same nature.

Like it’s opposite white pair, this new release also features a construction completely in canvas; here, though, the pair looks to stoney-tan hues throughout. It’s once again struck with embroidered detail, though here it’s more precise with its pattern, featuring a star-spangled threadwork across the upper. Overlays and straps remain plain, though all of that could change at the wearer’s discretion, as the entire upper tears away to reveal a grey and navy leather construct beneath. All of this rests atop an aged-look sail and grey sole unit.
