Way back in 1980, Nike tested a new wave of Swooshless trainers through one of their Chinese factories. Though the legendary “The One Line” run of samples is not often directly honored by Nike, this year’s collections of annual “NAI-KE” Air Force 1 has been remembering the project with fond memories through more than a handful of designs. It’s next ditched the recently-seen sashiko duds in favor of naturally-dyed canvas, premium leather liners, and a slew of new Eastern-influenced motifs.
Aside from the motif-stricken tongues and heel overlays, the pair arrives from toe to tail in canvas, with its dye delivered in a rustic, natural aesthetic — even the midsoles sport the finish! This is all sandwiched between cream ends, with soles and leather liners boasting the bright hue. There are more sail hues to be found at the decorative midfoot stitchwork and tongue tags, with dyed laces and Grind Rubber dubraes completing the design.
