After last year’s Puerto Rican Day balls-up, all eyes are on Nike to see how they’d butter up in 2020 for their annual celebratory Air Force 1. Needless to say, the brand is playing it very safe this year by reintroducing 2005’s “Puerto Rico”release though with a few tweaks and subtler accents.

In stark contrast to last year’s canceled pair, this year’s release arrives in a minimal fashion. Constructed in buttery tumbled white leather the pair; sporting the nation’s flag predominately at the lateral heel and tongue. The heel overlays arrive akin to the aforementioned 2005 release, although they do arrive with new red stitching in the read. Swooshes are now colorless, as opposed to navy, while liners now appear in blue. Sole units arrive in white and navy, and the pair is capped off with a green coqui print on the insole.

Grab a detailed look at 2020’s Puerto Rico Air Force 1 here below, and look for these to Nike.com, as well as select retailers, on June 2nd — a couple of weeks before celebrations kick off on June 14th.

Update 06.11.20 You are not going to believe this. Nike has dropped the ball again on the annual Puerto Rican Air Force 1 Low. The reason? The pairs sport backward flags on the tongue. I suppose it might be third time lucky for Nike in 2021.
