With Fall in full swing, Nike’s focus for the Air Max 90 has seemingly shifted from the light, bright whites we’ve recently seen, into something more aligned with traditional Autumn arrangements. Now, following the just-dropped “Surplus Pack” comes another outdoor-inspired aesthetic, this time taking in elements of famed Safari releases past.
The upper is unwavering in its all-black approach, instead opting for contrast by-way-of material selection. Here, black meshes work with smooth leathers, matte nubucks, and plastics to differentiate areas. Swooshes and vamp overlays take on the famed safari texture, the latter — along with the cheetah-print suede tongue tags — provide the pair’s only color pops, albeit very subdued. Completing the design is the arrival of striking white branding at the tongue and rear overlays to match the arrangement found at the sole unit underfoot
