Nike Air Max 90 “Rare Air” Taps Into Jordan Brand’s Retro Energy

Though originally born on the hardwood, Jordan Brand’s “Rare Air” theme continues to branch out. With the Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 4, and Air Jordan 11 already locked in for matching releases this year, the Nike Air Max 90 is now joining the extended family with a new “Rare Air”-inspired colorway.

Though not officially part of the “Rare Air” pack, the Air Max 90’s palette and build leave little doubt. The upper is constructed with a mix of leather, ripstop nylon, and plush suede mudguards, delivering a rich, multi-textured feel that echoes the luxury finish of the Jordan-based entries. The retro-themed approach continues with warm sail-colored midsoles and sock liners, while bright red Nike Air logos on the tongue and heel inject a pop of vintage energy. Below, classic gum rubber outsoles complete the design.

While a release date hasn’t been confirmed, the Nike Air Max 90 “Rare Air” will arrive in Fall 2025 via Nike.com and select retailers.
