The New York City Yellow Cab is as iconic to the city as the buildings and structures that surround it; The Empire State Building, the Brooklyn Bridge, the humble Yellow Cab. The seemingly everywhere but never easy to catch cab has served footwear brands with inspiration for decades. Now it returns to Nike’s Air Max lineage with a special kids-exclusive release, the Air Max 95 “NYC Taxi”.
Arriving in an unmistakable golden garb, the pair of mesh and leather is tinted in the yellow hue in its entirety, with minimally-placed black accents — just like the NYC Taxi. Black rubber tread underfoot mimics the car tires, while badging at the tongue channels the signature taxi top light. Branding on the eyelets and lateral side reflects the details seen on taxi doors, and it’s also hit with a cursive NYC tag at the ankle. The pair not only take the signature cab aesthetic, but it also comes capped off with a special graphic insole that, you guessed it, tributes NYC taxi cabs.
Update 03.08.21 Originally scheduled for a late February drop, the Nike Air Max 95 “NYC Taxi” has now reappeared on Foot Locker’s launch calendarfor a March 27th release.
