Nike Adds iridescent Streaks to this New Air Max 97

In the midst of its 25th-anniversary celebration, the Nike Air Max 97 has seen quite a few new iterations, including a handful sporting denim duds, and one that’s received an outdoor-inspired overhaul as part of the Swoosh’s impending “Utility Pack.” Now it’s getting back to basics with this new effort in black, but it goes with a contemporary twist.

An all-black build sees very little in the way of contrast, with mesh, reflective overlays, and leather mudguards all settled in tonal hues. Pops of Wolf Grey are worked into select placements, namely the Swoosh embroidery and Air supports that keep things minimal. In contrast to this understated base, Nike has implemented a stunning iridescent streak in “Picante Red,” as well as a chunky metallic silver rear pull, that add some dazzle to an otherwise dull release.
