Nike Adds TPU Overlays to this White and Sail Air Max 97

Two decades ago, Nike introduced the world to Christian Tresser’s revolutionary Air Max design. The shoe’s futuristic mix of reflective overlays, curved lines, and metallic finishes centered around the brand’s largest Air bubble yet was truly ahead of its time. Drawing inspiration from industrial design and the sleek style of Japan’s bullet trains, the debut colorway, dubbed the “Silver Bullet,” became an instant classic. Since then, countless variations of the iconic sneaker have been released, each featuring bold metallics and reflective materials. Now, Nike has unveiled a new addition to the Air Max 97 family, this one fitted in crisp summery whites and sails — and it’s fitted with a TPU twist.

This fresh take on a classic design features a lightweight mesh base and sleek leather mudguards, providing both breathability and durability for a spring/summer all-rounder. Boasting a crisp White and Sail colorway, the pair is poised for fair weather. It’s countered by bold Black accents on the inner lining, heel pull tabs, and rubber outsole, and revitalized with new TPU overlays at the midfoot that replace the usual 3M reflective detailing.
