Nike Air Max 97 “Black Chrome” Features Shaggy Suede and Silver Streaks

Satin and Chrome seem to be the material selection for Nike sportswear this spring, with limited-run collections featuring either of those two finishes. With the Air Max 97 already appearing in the former, it’s now time for the silhouette to show up in shiny silver with this new Nike Air Max 97 “Black Chrome” next in the Nike Sportswear series to appear.

Joining a handful of Air Force 1s, a More Uptempo, and a Penny 2, Christian Tresser’s Air Max 97 has appeared with select silver hits. Unlike those which belong to the basketball family, the Air Max brings its own aesthetic. Here, wide-open grey mesh uppers work with overlays of ashy grey suede, chrome streaks, and black mudguards. Three-dimensional silver Swooshes join special plating at the tongue to complete the top half. Black sole units rest underfoot with splashes of baby blue through the tread, and silver Air supports stowed within.
