When Nike’s in-house design team are looking for inspiration, we’re tipping that most meeting start (and likely end) with one thing. Coffee. It was evident in their recent take on the Daybreak, and now it appears there’s more in store for the caffeine-fuelled sneaker, with this freshly-brewed Nike Air Max 97 “Coffee” coming up next.
Coming clad in a like-mix of toasted brown leather, mesh, and suedes, the Air Max 97 effort arrives in a similar construction to the accompanying Daybreak, with textile uppers, sparing use of leather on the wavy overlays, and supple dark brown suede around the mudguard. But despite the similarities, there are some differences; the Air Max 97 effort ditches the toasty gold accents in favor of a traditional Nike Orange, while its lightly-toasted sole units are replaced for a subtle off-white EVA and semi-translucent rubbers. Insoles return to their striped form, with a “Neko Atsume”-appropriate cat-in-a-mug graphic prolific at the heel, and the caffeinated creation is completed by a batch mark on the inner tongues that read “ROASTED BY NIKE, INC.” and “97005” — Beaverton’s Zip Code.
Though an official release date for the Nike Air Max 97 “Coffee” is yet to be poured, you can expect to see pairs arriving fairly soon; within the next few months at the very least. Until then, you can enjoy an official look at the freshly brewed release here below, and be sure to give us a follow here on Twitter for all further updates on the pair.
