We’ve seen some interesting takes on the Air Max 97of late, from coffee-clad coverings to one inspired by energy gel packets, of all things. The next to appear certainly has its own inspirations, but it’s in no way as imaginative as the aforementioned. In fact, it looks a little closer to its own lineage for influence, with this Air Max 97 “Neon” borrowing an aesthetic made famous by its brother born two years earlier.
Though it’s not the first and definitely not the last time the Neon palette has been transferred to an alternate Air Max model, the proximity in age and the layered upper of the Air Max 97 lends itself to a fairly decent transition. Much brighter in appearance than the 95, this release focuses on lighter greys throughout, while bright white midsoles make the release a standalone effort. Blacks are used sparingly, gracing only the liners, pulls, and outsoles, while the vibrant titular hue hits a slew of brand accentuations, outsole detail, and the full-length of the Air supports beneath. 3M reflective overlays up top round out the design.
Though a release date did not accompany the official image set below, you should expect to see a rollout of the Air Max 97 “Neon” hit Nike.com and select retailers in the coming weeks. So while we await further details, grab a detailed look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep our eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
