The design team at Nike has over the years made many attempts to bridge the gap between sporting and lifestyle, previous adaptations has been a series of Air Jordan 11’s fitted with golf spikes or Jordan 34’s featuring Baseball and Football cleats. Now recently surfaced, the Nike Air Max 97 is getting ready to head out for 18 holes with a retro golf appeal.
Looking to make a statement on the course while still adding practical value, this AM97 will do just that while giving a hat tip to 70s inspired golf fashion. With an upper entirely constructed of corduroy the hues vary across the wavey layers the 97 is famous for, in an upwards gradient soft brown, vibrant orange, cyan, and finishing on beige. At the foundation of the design sits an all-white midsole unit that highlights a fully translucent window to the cyan cushioning tech below, a fan favorite gum outer sole that features an upgraded tread to better suit the course and cyan swoosh. Completing the design is the traditional and seldom-seen removable nubuck Kiltie which drapes across the laces with both “NIKE” branding on the top and “GOOD LUCK” embroidered underneath.
