Though by no means does it struggle in the US market, the Air Max Plus is not typically considered a marquee model for those situated Stateside. Throughout the rest of the world, though, the audacious Air Max model is considered to be a grail, typically out here in Australia, throughout the UK, and the wider European continent. France is one country that consistently shows Sean McDowell’s sneaker some love, and the Swoosh will be rewarding them with a special-edition Nike Air Max Plus “France” for the Spring/Summer season.
Aside from the obvious French flag detail at the tongue tip, and the country’s 93 phone code enlarged over the tongue, the pair is fairly cryptic to its inspiration. With black mesh uppers covered in chain fence prints, perforated leather tongue tips and heels, and solid blacks underfoot, one would question its tie-in to the country. There is, however, Tricolore detail on the outsole, red and blue Air supports stowed within, while white and silver Swooshes and midfoot shanks linking back to the aforementioned uppers to complete the design.
An official release date for the pair is still unknown, but you should expect to see this new nautical Nike Air Max Plus “France” sneak into select retailers and Nike.com in the coming weeks. When they do hit shelves, we’ll be sure to keep you posted here on our official Twitter account.
