Nike’s Grind Rubber releases have made great use of the scrap-filled material, from (mostly) outsoles to tongue tags all featuring the finish. But now it appears that the Swoosh has found a new use — the vein overlays of the Air Max Plus.
Previously seen on the silhouette’s sole, this new option flips the recycled material to the top, utilized on the pair’s signature caging. Here, its gritty, colorful finish rests atop a random, almost digital camo-like upper of earthy hues. Black, teal, volt, and brown can all be found muddled through the mesh, while its immediate surroundings remain reserved in black. Nubuck heels and mudguards offer a great contrast to the high-gloss toe cap and matte black sole unit, but not as significant as the midfoot mini Swoosh and midfoot shank in vibrant volt. More of the highlighter hue hits the underfoot tread, while simple black Air supports, and classic TN branding in the rear arrive to complete the design.
An official release date for the pair is still unknown, but the Nike Air Max Plus “Grind Rubber” is likely to sneak into select retailers and Nike.com over the coming weeks. When they do hit shelves, we’ll be sure to keep you posted here on our official Twitter account, but until then, enjoy an official look at the pair here below.
