But it won’t be missing out on China’s annual 2 Month 2 celebration, as the release of the Nike Air Max Plus “Longtaitou” has coincided today with the kick-off of the annual festival.
The festival is celebrated around the time of Jingzhe, which has the meaning of awakening of the hibernated (implying insects). This is the time during which the hibernating insects begin to wake up at the beginning of early spring, which is often accompanied by the arrival of the first rains, meaning the weather is getting warm. Longtaitou Festival is a vital worship ritual of wishing for a good harvest in the coming months. Thus, a traditional celebration calls for traditional foods; Nike, however, will dress Sean Mc Dowell’s gaudy trainer in seasonal earthy and spring hues that aims to capture the season ahead.
