Nike’s First Air-Loaded Sneaker is Back in Beige

The godfather of comfort, the Nike Tailwind, set an unprecedented level of underfoot pleasure when it became the first ever sneaker to include Air technology back in the late 70s. Those who were lucky enough to test out the Tailwind were reluctant to return even the crudest of prototypes. The shoe marked the start of a new generation of athletic footwear. Thus a legend was born.

Its importance is often glossed over, but there’s still a handful of ‘heads out there that recognize it’s greatness. Returning to shelves late last year in an original beige and blue combo, pairs were scooped up at an alarming rate. In an aim to continue the upward trend for the retospective sneaker, Nike is set to release a few classicly-designed pairs peeking their way through. Next to join the release schedule is this Parachute Beige offering, which arrives in a classic combination of suede, mesh, and leather. Thanks to both it’s classy colorway, use of fine materials and excellent execution, this Tailwind boasts a premium vibe. Starting with beige synthetic mesh underlays as it’s base, luxe tonal suede overlays hit the toe heel and lacestays, with the rest remaining as classic as you can get. Exposed foam tongues and fat-bellied Swooshes harken back to the disco era’s stylings, while the white midsole and black rubber outsole remain a classic yet timeless combo
