It’s been a long time coming, but 1999’s Nike Air Tuned Max is finally getting the retro treatment. Fans of the audacious arrangement have had to wait a whopping 22 years for a retro, but with now a second OG colorway confirmed for 2021, the wait is undoubtedly long forgotten. Joining the Dark Charcoal/Celery comebackis this blue-dominant “Midnight Navy” OG which, though just as dark in hue, brings a refreshing strike of brightness through streaking whites.
Said hues arrive at the midsole and laces to break-up the mostly tonal uppers of mesh, plastic, and patent, while subtle pops of the awesomely-titled “Dragon Red” add in some much-needed warmth. Further cooling hies are presented in the rear’s 3M reflective panels, and the pair is completed by an abundance of Nike Alpha Project 5-dot duds at the rear overlay, insole, and outsole
Though a return date for the Nike Air Tuned Max OG “Midnight Navy” was not officially noted, it is likely that pairs will form part of the wider Air Max month celebrations in March and beyond. Until the official word comes though, grab a detailed look below at the retro release that’s been 22 years in the making.
