Like a ton of other Nike models, Kyrie Irving’s sixth signature sneaker had plans in place for the now-postponed Tokyo Olympics. COVID-19 has caused the games to be pushed back until 2021, and footwear brands have been left with an abundance of celebratory Tokyo- and Japan-specific releases — most famously, the now-canceled 7-Eleven Nike SB Dunk. Most are still releasing, though, and it appears that this Nike Kyrie 6 “Japan” will be, too, with official images hitting Nike servers earlier today.
As straightforward as it gets, the pair dons a simple white and red makeup, featuring an upper constructed of white leather, textile, and rubber, and accented across the board in University Red. Luckily for Kyrie and Nike, the pair didn’t specifically shout out the Games nor the city of Tokyo, so it will easily pass as a straight GR — a perfect team bank colorway that we’re hoping to see in a slew of other color options.
As for a release of the “Japan” Kyrie 6, not much is yet known, but pairs are already popping up around Japanese retail websites and will likely surface on eBay soon. As always, keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates. Until then, enjoy a detailed look at the pair here below.
