Kyrie Irving has always been proud of his native American ancestry. His late mother was a member of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and it was this tribe who also appointed him the name “Little Mountain”, a name that was also given to a previously seen colorway on the Nike Kyrie 5. Now, following the brand’s extensive mid-year collection, Nike N7, who is actively working with organizations towards the betterment of Native American youth, has prepped a second Nike Kyrie 6 N7 for a mini capsule for Native American Heritage Month this November.
The Nike Kyrie N7 “Standing Rock Sioux” arrives class in jet black and is complemented by haptic graphic overlays that honor the vibrant patterns of certain Native artwork, all whilst paying tribute to the gifts given at the Tribe’s traditional naming ceremonies. Contrasting sail and white sole units are splashed with sporadic use of barely-there lime and yellow to match the hues of the aforementioned pattern. Completing the design is mismatched tongue branding — the left shoe complete with N7 motifs, the right with “Hela,” (pronounced HAY’-law) the name Kyrie’s late mother gave to a young Kyrie — translating to “Little Mountain”.
An official release date is still unknown, but the Nike Kyrie 6 N7 is already listed live here on Nike.com as ‘Coming Soon’ — indicating a release to be right around the corner. Until then, you can enjoy an official look at the pair ahead, and learn more about the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in the Dakotas here.
In related news, the Air Max 1 has also appeared in a Standing Rock Sioux-tributing colorway for N7.
