Though Nike’s Move to Zero proposition has provided silhouettes with a myriad of recycled materials, from Crater Foam to countless reused yarns. But none have been more prevalent than the Swoosh’s Grind Rubber, a colorful sprinkle of rubber off-cuts repurposed for outsoles, accents, and more. Now it’s made its way to the Nike Basketball division, with the Nike Kyrie 7 “Grind” the first silhouette to surface with the recycled material.
Though the pair appears to be quite drab from a distance, a closer inspection reveals a striking lemon yellow upper, rich royal blue at the forefoot Zoom Air, and the colorful flecks of the Grind Rubber at the tongue logos, Swooshes, and forefoot teeth. The finish is mimicked through multi-color laces to complete the color pops, with a black tongue, liners, perforated sheath, and sole units providing the aforementioned ominous aesthetic. Completing the design is Kyrie’s sign-off at the heel in a light lemon thread.
