Brooklyn Point God Kyrie Irving and his signature sneaker line have never been shy about their influences. From throwback Kobe-inspired pairs to recently-released pairs inspired by his hometown’s connection with Hip-Hop, Irving has often paid tribute to the things he holds near and dear. And as it seems, he’s already formed a strong bond with new teammate Kevin Durant, with this Nike Kyrie 7 “Ky-D” aka “Weatherman”— a colorway directly inspired by 2011’s Nike KD 4 of the name.
Kyrie’s offering arrives in almost identical style, with heat-mapped tread beneath blacked outsole units, vibrant green uppers, and the signature orange and yellow weather map graphics in the rear, but given the differences in design, there’s bound to be a few tweaks. Swooshes on Kyrie’s are outlined in black, with the Volt of the KD4 now migrated to the forefoot teeth. Uppers feature flecks of yellow underneath its mesh, while tongues arrive in solid green. And, of course, the KD insignia in the heel is now swapped out for a #7/all-seeing-eye combo design. The pair is then completed by special graphic insoles — and we’d hope that these would arrive in special packaging, too, though the imagery of the boxing was not provided.
