For 2021, Kyrie Irving will be delivering not one, but two colorful homages to the Lunar New Year. The first, which was revealed only a few days ago, saw his Kybrid S2 outfitted in patchwork prints from his CNY releases past; the second is this Chinese Knot-inspired Kyrie 7 “Chinese New Year”, which is a little more straightforward in its approach.
Here we see a black-based release with woven detail of pink and royal which ostensibly mimics the celebration’s sweeping firework displays. The alternating Swoosh sets both arrive in gold, the medial side featuring a straightforward embroidered finish, while the lateral opts for an endless Chinese Knot design in a metallic gold plate. Further callouts to the traditional trinkets are features at the heel in a traditional red and gold. Jade green hits at the tongue and forefoot also honor the Eastern nation, and the pair is completed by racy royal laces, and a crisp white outsole underfoot.
Though a release date for the Nike Kyrie 7 “Chinese New Year” has not been set, you can expect the pair to roll out in January of 2021 for a $140 price point. As for further specifics on the release, be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
